VIJHL Schedule Build for 2020-2021 Season

The VIJHL Schedule is being built for the 2020-2021 season a piece at a time.  In order to ensure that the League and all 9 teams stay in compliance with all of the regulations and protocols that the many governing bodies are putting in place for COVID-19, the League is taking it’s time in building this season’s schedule. As always the health and safety of the VIJHL players comes first as the League gets them back on the ice and playing hockey.
As only a maximum of 4 teams are allowed to play against each other without having to take a 14 day break between games, the VIJHL has been divided into 3 different groupings or “cohorts”. In October when the season started, the 4 North teams formed 1 cohort, 3 teams in the South formed 1 cohort and the remaining 2 South teams created 1 cohort. The 9 teams will continue to play within these groupings to the end of October when the 5 South teams will take a mandated 14 day “wait” period (no interaction between teams) before regrouping with changes to the 2 cohorts in the South.  The North teams will be able to continue playing without a break as there are no changes to the teams in that cohort at this time.

It is expected that after the Christmas break additional changes to all 3 cohorts will take place in an attempt to create a balanced schedule for the 9 teams.
The VIJHL schedule has been updated on this website and with HockeyTV with additional games to the middle of November. Once the scheduling for the “new” cohorts is completed a full schedule to the Christmas break will be available.
As almost all of the VIJHL facilities are not allowing fans on their premises at this time, please follow the fast and exciting action of our VIJHL players on HockeyTV (www.hockeytv.com).
