3PTS SHOOTOUT ROED

McCann to Australia

2017/18 Campbell River Storm captain Dylan McCann is heading to Australia for the Summer (or should I say Winter) to play hockey in Adelaide. He’s hoping to make his way to the AIHL Adelaide Adrenaline through the Adelaide Tigers program. Mark Berry contacted him to ask about the adventure.

Cole Slaney, in three seasons of Junior hockey, has played 99 regular season games, 2/3 of those with the Campbell River Storm. He has proven to be a disciplined (just 28 PiM), defense-first backliner who is comfortable jumping into the rush. They don’t come any more dependable than #91.

Brett to UNLV

Sheldon Brett has committed to the UNLV Rebels for the 2017/18 season. Before coming to Campbell River in his senior year of junior hockey, Brett played with the Comox Valley Glacier Kings and BCHL Trail Smoke Eaters. Known for his physical play, his season with the Storm showcased his complete game, a 200 foot player that could score timely goals.

Oishi Commits to VIU 14 17 Highlights

VIJHL MINI-CLIP: Last season, Parker Ellis demonstrated that he was another VIJHL rising star. The then 18 year old averaged a point per game with the Westshore Wolves after coming over from the Kerry Park Islanders in October.

VIJHL MINI-CLIP: On April 2, 2017, in his final Junior game, Dom Kolbeins had a two-goal night and came within a whiskers breath of winning Game 7 in OT. Here’s his second goal that brought the game level at 3-3. The game eventually went to 4 overtime periods before the Storm outlasted the Cougars 4-3.

VIJHL MINI-CLIP: On November 26, 2016, Marcus Gloss had another great night in another epic Glacier Kings/Storm Derby that went to OT. He faced 46 shots and was named a Game Star and with saves like this one you can see why.

On April 2 in Esquimalt the Campbell River Storm took the VIJHL Championship in dramatic fashion, 4:48 of the 4th overtime in Game 7

Chad Bell Profile

Chad Bell has been a part of the Nanaimo Buccaneers since they joined the VIJHL. He was an AP that season and through the past 5 years has developed into a leader on and off the ice. What a season for the Port McNeill hockey product; 25 goals of which 7 were on the power play, 3 were shorthanded and 3 were on penalty shots. He’s off to college.

Duncan Cochrane Final Jr game

Peninsula Panthers 20 year old Duncan Cochrane played his final Junior hockey game on the road last night in Campbell River. He was put on a line with his younger brother and scored a nice goal. His celebration was unusual.

VC 3 CR 2 Game Highlights

The Victoria Cougars traveled to Campbell River for their final regular season game. At stake was first overall and home ice advantage throughout the playoffs. It was a classic Storm/Cougars game that went down to the wire.

Blake Record Point

At 16:40 of the second period on Monday, February 13, 2017, Colin Blake went into the Campbell River Storm history book when he assisted on Sheldon Brett’s goal. He eclipsed Jason Jaques with his 266th team point and is now first overall.
