Two New Additions to the VIJHL

Two New Additions to the VIJHL

Lake Cowichan Kraken & Port Alberni Bombers
The Vancouver Island Hockey League (VIJHL) is pleased to announce (in
conjunction with BC Hockey) that TWO new franchises will be joining our League for the
2021-2022 season.

The Lake Cowichan Kraken and the Port Alberni Bombers have both agreed to and
completed the necessary steps of approval to be awarded these franchises and their
entry into the VIJHL. This will expand our League from the existing nine teams to eleven
teams for the 2021-2022 season with additional interests still under discussion for the
2022 season.

The League is extremely pleased with its two newest partners’. They provide solid
hockey backgrounds and a focus on the development of players and their communities.
These two new teams will infuse additional excitement in the League and some new
rivalries for both our North and South Vancouver Island communities.

With the recent Public Health Authority news indicating reductions to restrictions around
September 2021 the League season opening appears to be coming together. With that
in mind we look forward to a date when our fans, volunteers and HockeyTV program
supporters can again enjoy this great game.

As always, stay safe, be kind and we hope to see you back in our arenas soon.
The VIJHL’s inaugural season was 1965-66 and is a member and supporter of BC
Hockey and Hockey Canada.

Thank you for your continued support.
