Saanich 4 Campbell River 6
First star Jacob Kulas and second star Levente Birta each scored twice to lead the Campbell River Storm to a 6-5 win over the Saanich Predators before 533 fans at Ron Brind’Amour Arena in Friday night VIJHL action.
Brayden Hickling and Theo Landry also tallied for the Storm, with third star Tristan Williams adding three assists for the Storm, which led 2-1 and 3-2 by periods, and received 35 saves from Kaeden Serpa.
Mathieu Ouellette and Jake Westhaver potted a pair of goals each for the Predators, and they had a 34 save performance from Jaden Vanderlee.
Oceanside 4 Comox Valley 5 (OT)
Jake Gislason scored at 5:19 of overtime to give the Comox Valley Glacier Kings a 5-4 win over the Oceanside Generals in front of 417 spectators at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Gislason added an assist in a first star performance, as the Yetis also had goals from second star Westin Churchill, Henry Toomer, Preston Muxlow and Kyle Mayenburg. Aaron Pichette stopped 37 shots to earn the victory between the Comox Valley pipes.
Second star Peyton O’Connell had a goal and an assist, with single scores coming from Jasper Felbaum, Rylan Prescesky and Kadin Bilajbegovic. Hunter Farrer had 18 stops in the Generals net. The game was tied 2-2 after the first and Oceanside led 4-3 after two frames.
Victoria 3 Peninsula 5
First star Joe Marranzino scored twice as the Peninsula Panthers poured in four third period goals to upend the Victoria Cougars 5-3 before 162 fans at Panorama Arena.
Victoria led 2-1 on goals by Anthony Wilson and Ryan Donovan and led 2-1 at the end of the first and second periods, and second star Jacob Bernardo put the Cougars up 3-1 in the third period before the Panthers roared back. Jesse Pye stopped 38 shots in the Victoria net.
Ben Swan, Ethan Lingard and Alex Sajan into an empty meeting were the other goal scorers for the Panthers, as Lucas Ananias earned third star honors and netminder Merik Grinaker blocked 23 shots for the win.
Port Alberni 7 Lake Cowichan 3
First star Grayson Salmon, second star Zach Spafford and Leim Smith all scored twice in Port Alberni Bombers’ 7-3 decision over the hometown Lake Cowichan Kraken at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.
Suhaan Nagra was the other Bombers marksman in a game that was tied 1-1 after the first before Port Alberni sped out to a 4-2 lead following the sandwich frame. Damien Knackstedt stopped 24 saves in the visitors net.
Third star Charles Fleming, Landon Carson and Colby Jeffries scored for the Kraken, who had Tanner Ferrill between the pipes, making 23 stops.
