New Owners For Victoria Cougars

The Victoria Cougars have new owners.

Chris Lynn and Philip Pang have purchased the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League team from the Esquimalt Hockey Society, which has operated the Cougars since its inception in 1998. The sale was approved Tuesday night in a vote of the VIJHL’s Board of Governors.

“We are incredibly excited to join this storied franchise and become a part of a team and organization with such a deep love for the game and history of excellence,” states Chris, who has coached in the VIJHL and previously served as General Manager of the Cougars. He emphasized his commitment to the team’s legacy and its passionate fanbase.

Pang highlighted a vision for both athletic and community success.

“This acquisition represents a new chapter for our organization,” says Philip, who has served as Cougars president, and his two sons and a nephew played for the club. “We are committed to building on the team’s strong foundation and delivering a winning product on and off the ice.”

VIJHL Chairman Shawn Vincent states “The VIJHL is very pleased to have Chris and Philip join our team of owners. We are confident that the transition from a Society to private ownership will result in some exciting changes, and we expect the Cougars to maintain the standard of excellence they’ve set over many years in this league.
