July 16, 2025 – The Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League has released its 2025-2026 regular season schedule, which can be viewed on the www.vijhl.com website.
Each team in the 11-team circuit will play 48 games, 24 at home and 24 away, the same number of contests as last season, with the schedule kicking off Thursday, September 4 as the defending playoff champion Peninsula Panthers visit the Victoria Cougars for a 7 p.m. tilt at Archie Browning Arena.
The regular season concludes with three games on Saturday, February 28. Three rounds of playoffs follow, with the first place team meeting the fourth place club, and second place taking on third place in both the North and South Divisions respectively. The North and South Divisions will meet in the championship final series.
Kerry Park Islanders won the South Division regular season title and had the most points of all VIJHL teams last season, with Campbell River capturing north division honours.
Peninsula beat Campbell River in a 3-2 overtime thriller in the seventh and deciding game of the final series in front of a packed house at Panorama Recreation Centre on April 4.
“We are very excited about this upcoming VIJHL season, and looking forward to an even better season than last year,” says VIJHL Chair Shawn Vincent. “It was our first year as an independent league in association with the BC Hockey League, and the quality of our players, officials, and the games themselves took a great leap forward.”
VIJHL President Mark MacDonald adds “To finish it off with an amazing seven-game final with Campbell River and Peninsula with both arenas having overflow crowds was icing on the cake. Recruiting efforts have been underway and by all indications, the players competing for roster spots at spring development camps is even better.”
Training camps open for all teams in mid-August, and the Exhibition Schedule will be released soon.
