John Watson, former Executive Director of the Comox Valley Economic Development Society, has been named as the new Vice President of Hockey Operations for the Vancouver Island Hockey League.
Watson is a former minor hockey coach and resides in the Comox Valley. He takes the reins from Jordan Kamprath.
“I have known John Watson for many years and have no doubt he’ll be an excellent addition to our management team,” says VIJHL Chair Shawn Vincent. “The skills John brings to the table will be a real asset to the VIJHL.”
Watson will work closely with VIJHL President Mark MacDonald.
“I have known and worked closely with John for many years, and I know what he’s going to bring to the table,” notes MacDonald. “John will be a great asset and help our league get even stronger as we enter our second season as an independent junior league in association with the BC Hockey League.”
Watson adds: “The successful launch of the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League in the past season has been an incredible achievement by the Board of Governors, Executive, Owners, Coaches and our players. As Vice President of Hockey Operations, I look forward to helping increase our internal operational capacity and supporting the continued growth of the league as it enters its second.”
