Victoria 1 Oceanside 4
First star Josh Nuttall stopped all but one of the 43 shots he faced in the Generals goal to lead Oceanside to a 4-1 victory over the Victoria Cougars in front of 248 fans at Oceanside Place in Saturday night VIJHL play.
Oceanside (11-29-4) led 1-0 after the first period but the second period ended in a 1-1 tie before the Generals pulled away. Second star Mathias Alhaj, third star Jasper Fellbaum, Logan Lough and Ryken Lay were the goal scorers for the hosts.
Mathieu Ouellette had the lone goal for Victoria (22-15-6), who received 28 saves from netminder Lane Maarhuis.
Peninsula 3 Port Alberni 2
Peninsula Panthers led all the way in a 3-2 decision over the Port Alberni Bombers before 279 spectators at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Peninsula (31-10-2-1) held 2-1 and 3-2 period leads and had goals from Paco Hodgson, Lukas Preweda and Lucas Ananias, with goalie Merik Grinaker earning third star honours with a 28 save effort. Malcolm Fletcher had two assists and was named second star.
Port Alberni (25-13-4) had both of their goals from first star Sean Richards, and Tom Forrest mad 27 saves in the Bombers net.
Nanaimo 3 Kerry Park 11
First star Benjamin Stocks fired three goals to lead the Kerry Park Islanders to a decisive 11-3 win over the Nanaimo Buccaneers at Kerry Park Arena.
Kerry Park, now at 33-6-3-1 for 70 points to lead the South Division, maintained their five point lead over second place Peninsula while holding 4-2 and 6-3 leads by periods.
Bryce Burnett had two goals, and second star Eric Stinson, who also added three assists, Brody Lindal, Kyler Smith, Carson Brown, Reegan Kominko and Nate Grinevitch had single tallies for the Islanders, with Carter Piska making 31 saves in goal.
Nanaimo (15-23-4-2) scores came from Clay Spencer, Porter Muxlow and Baden Pazdzierski, with Darian Feser and Parker Ambury making 24 saves altogether in the Buccaneer goal.
Lake Cowichan 4 Comox Valley 3
First star Carter Anderson’s second goal in the third period pushed the Lake Cowichan Kraken to a 4-3 victory over the Comox Valley Glacier Kings with 432 people watching at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Bevin Williams and Nathan Forster had the other Kraken snipes, as the teams were tied 1-1 and 3-3 by periods, with Comox Valley holding a 3-1 lead at one point in the sandwich frame. Second star Tanner Ferrill made 38 saves in the Kraken cage.
Zane Rajcic, Austin Montgomery-Parsons and Brigham Nye were the Glacier Kings goal scorers and third star Henry Toomer added two assists, with Brayden Pritoula making 41 saves in the Yetis net.
The victory put Lake Cowichan (19-22-3-1) into sole possession of third place in the North Division with 42 points, one ahead of Comox Valley (19-22-3), which has played one less game than the Kraken.
