First star Bryce Burnett scored twice to lead the Kerry Park Islanders to a 4-2 victory and a 4-2 South Division semi-final series win over the hometown Victoria Cougars in Thursday night VIJHL action in front of 400 fans at Archie Browning Arena.
Adam Konowalchuk and Matson Waring also scored for Kerry Park, which, after a scoreless first period, led 3-1 heading into the third. Second star Max Carlson had two assists, and Noah Stenvig stopped 37 shots for the win in goal.
Third star Mathieu Ouellette and Mathieu Sauve had the goals for Victoria, which received 31 saves from netminder Ryder Lally.
Victoria won the first two games of the series before regular season champion stormed back with four straight wins to take the series, and the Islanders will next face the Peninsula Panthers in the South Division final series. Campbell River Storm faces the Port Alberni Bombers in the North Division final.
