Campbell River 3 Port Alberni 4 (OT)
Third star Kash Nicklin cashed in with the winning goal at 3:52 of overtime to give the hometown Port Alberni Bombers a 4-3 decision over the Campbell River Storm in front of 233 fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex in Wednesday night VIJHL play.
Daniel Betcher, Jack Barrett and Solstice Tennant were the other scorers for the Bombers, who moved closer to within four points of the North Division Storm with the victory. Port Alberni has 26 points on a 12-5-2 record, while Campbell River has 30 points from a 14-4-2 mark.
The game was tied 1-1 after the first period and the Bombers led 3-2 after two, with Zach Spafford earning the first star of the game for his three assist effort, as they were backstopped by a 35 save effort from Evan Grant.
Logan Vigneault, Levente Birta and Jan-Felix Faupel were the Storm marksmen, with second star Dominic Grieco chipping in two assists. Goalie Kaeden Serpa blocked 42 shots between the Campbell River pipes.
