A 37 save shutout by first star Brayden Pitoula led visiting Comox Valley Glacier Kings to a 4-0 freeze out of the host Westshore Wolves at the Q Centre in Wednesday night VIJHL play.
Second star Jake Gislason scored twice and third star Brigham Nye and Zaya Morro into an empty net were the tallymen for the Glacier Kings, which led 1-0 after the second following a scoreless first frame.
Dryden Demelo made 22 stops in the Wolves lair, as Westshore is now 24-12-5-1 for 54 points, six up on fourth place Victoria Cougars.
The win pushed Comox Valley to 18-21-3 for 39 points and fourth place in the North Division, one behind Lake Cowichan in third place, and four ahead of Nanaimo in fifth.
Peninsula 4 Oceanside 3
Third star Brendan Williams’ second goal with 1:40 remaining in the third period lifted the Peninsula Panthers to a 4-3 victory over the Oceanside Generals at Oceanside Place.
Peninsula (30-9-2-1) now has 63 points, three back of South Division leading Kerry Park, and their other two goals came from Kenyan Price. Goalie Alexei Booth made 21 stops for the win in a game Oceanside led 1-0 after the first, with the Panthers leading 3-2 after the second period.
Oceanside (10-29-4) had their markers come from the sticks of first star Lucca Stewart, Logan Lough and Jasper Fellbaum, with netminder Hunter Farrer making 54 saves in a second star performance.
