Comox Valley 2 Saanich 7
First star Mathieu Ouelette scored three of the Predators first four goals as Saanich jumped out to a 4-0 lead and skated to a 7-2 VIJHL victory over the Comox Valley Glacier Kings Friday night before 75 fans at George Pearkes Arena.
Predators goalie Jaden Vanderlee blocked 34 shots and was named the game’s second star, as Saanich had two goals from Brayden Hepburn and singles from Dayton Chapin and Nick Scott in the contest they led 2-0 and 5-2 by periods.
Third star Porter Muxlow and Isaac Dunsire were the scorers for Comox Valley, with Preston Muxlow adding two assists. Goalie Luca Vanzo stopped 23 shots.
Westshore 7 Lake Cowichan 5
Westshore Wolves scored five straight goals and hung on for a 7-5 win over the hometown Lake Cowichan Krakenin in front of 170 fans at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.
First star Kansys Seney had a four point night with two goals and two assists, with Jareden Kurvers adding a pair and Alejandro Snead, Jackson Campbell and Zion Lavoie adding singles for the Wolves, who led 3-2 and 5-4 by periods. James Hall made 19 saves in the Westshore goal.
Third star Cooper Barclay scored twice, second star Gellert Kiss-Molar had a goal and three assists, and Aleksander Leonelli and Kananga Mangala chipped in single markers for the Kraken in the fast-paced, entertaining affair. Josh Hope and Tanner Ferrill combined for 21 saves between the Lake Cowichan pipes.
Victoria 1 Campbell River 3
Goals by third star Henry Davis and Thomas Curri in the third period enabled the host Campbell River Storm to scratch out a 3-1 victory over the Victoria Cougars before 458 spectators at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
Kaeden Serpa earned first star honours by stopping 42 of 43 shots in the Storm net, as the teams were tied 1-1 after both the first and second periods. Levente Birta had the other goal from Campbell River, as second star Marshall Curri picked up two assists.
Kelton Shinde had the Victoria marker, with Jesse Pye making 27 saves on the night.
Oceanside 2 Peninsula 6
Peninsula Panthers poured 50 shots at the Oceanside net and were led by first star Lukas Prewada’s three goals in a 6-2 victory over the Generals in front of 167 people at Panorama Recreation Centre.
Peninsula led 3-0 and 5-0 by period on goals by Risto Ringma and Jacob Caron before Kenyan Price made it 6-0 Panthers early in the third. Brendan Williams was named second star and Jacob Eddy third star, as Merik Grinaker made 18 stops in the cats cage.
Kane Law and Billy Snyder had tallies for Oceanside, with Josh Nuttall and Hunter Farrer combining to stop 44 pucks between the Generals pins.
