Victoria 4 Oceanside 3 (OT)
Cole Patterson’s second goal of the game 55 seconds into overtime gave the Victoria Cougars a 4-3 win over the host Oceanside Generals in Saturday night VIJHL action in front of 351 fans at Oceanside Place.
Kelton Shinde and Jussi Saarni were the other marksmen for the Cougars (10-11-5), who led 3-2 heading into the third frame as the first period ended in a 1-1 tie. Jacob Bernardo was named third star and had two assists, and netminder Jesse Pye stopped 18 shots for the win.
The Generals (3-19-3) were led by first star Jasper Fellbaum who had a goal and two assists, while Jordan Campbell was named second star with one assist. Brander Lambert and Kane Law had the other goals for Oceanside, and goalie Hunter Farrer turned in a tremendous effort with 49 saves.
Westshore 2 Kerry Park 3 (OT)
Bryce Burnett’s goal at 1:17 of overtime gave the host Kerry Park Islanders a 3-1 win over the Westshore Wolves at Kerry Park Arena.
First star Finlay Klippenstein had a goal and an assist, with Jobey Pearson adding a single and third star Max Carlson had an assist for Kerry Park (17-5-1-1), with Ethan Barron making 31 stops in the Islanders net.
Westhore (18-3-4-1) led 1-0 after the first period and the teams went into the final frame tied at 2-2. Second star Kaden Ryan and Clay Spencer were the Wolves goal scoreres, and Dryden Demelo made 17 saves on the night.
Port Alberni 2 Comox Valley 1
Kash Nicklin’s third period goal stood up to be the winner as the visiting Port Alberni Bombers nipped the Comox Valley Glacier Kings 2-1 at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Mathias Alhaj had the goal for the Glacier Kings (10-14-3), while Nathan Hayes fired the other tally for the Bombers (18-6-3) in a game that was 0-0 after the first period and 1-1 after two.
Evan Grant had 19 saves for Port Alberni and Aaron Pichette 23 for Comox Valley. Austin Charlton of the Glacier Kings was named first star and Sam Davidson of the Bombers second star.
