Lukas Preweda’s goal at 6:57 of the third period lifted the Peninsula Panthers to a 4-3 victory over the Campbell River Storm in game six of the VIJHL playoff final in front of 1,125 fans at Rod Brind’Amour Arena Wednesday night, setting the stage for a winner-take-all seventh game Friday night in Sidney.
Second star Oskar Aitken Salmons scored twice in the second period and Joe Marranizo once for the Panthers, who tied the exciting series at 3-3, thanks to a 33 save effort from netminder Hunter Farrer.
Third star Jacob Kulas had two goals and Dylan Toth one for the Storm, who had two assists from first star Logan Wright, and 26 saves from goalie Kaeden Serpa.
Peninsula opened the best-of-seven series with two wins before Campbell River stormed back with three straight of their own prior to Wednesday’s tilt.
