First star Jan-Felix Faupel scored the eventual game winning goal in the first period and an insurance marker in the third to lead the Campbell River Storm a 5-2 victory over the Peninsula Panthers in game three of the VIJHL playoff championship series in front of 1,003 spectators at Rod Brind’Amour Arena Saturday night to tie the VIJHL Championship Series at 2-2.
Third star Logan Vigneault scored twice, including an empty netter late in the third period, and Marshall Curri once for the Storm, and second star Kaeden Serpa continued his hot hand by stopping 33 shots in the Campbell River net, less than 24 hours after stopping 50 in the game three double-overtime win Friday night.
Kenyan Price and Ethan Lingard had the Peninsula markers, as Campbell River led 3-1 after the first and the second frame was scoreless. Hunter Farrer made 29 saves between the Panthers pipes.
Game five is set for Tuesday night in at Peninsula, which led 2-0 after they won the first two games of the series.
