Third star Jan-Felix Faupel scored at 4:34 of the second overtime period to give the Campbell River Storm a 2-1 victory over the Peninsula Panthers in game three of the VIJHL playoff championship series in front of 429 spectators at Panorama Recreation Centre in Sidney Friday night.
It was an amazing goaltenders duel, with first star Peninsula netminder Hunter Farrer stopping 48 shots and Campbell River’s Kaeden Serpa stopping 53 pucks to earn second star honours.
After the first two periods were scoreless, Thomas Curri opened the scoring at 2:47 of the third period for the Storm, with Clayton Collier tying it just over two minutes later for the Panthers.
Game four is set for Saturday night in Campbell River, with Peninsula leading the best-of-seven series 2-1.
