First star Cooper Barclay fired two goals and added an assist to lead the Lake Cowichan Kraken to a 4-1 win over the host Victoria Cougars in Thursday night VIJHL play in front of 165 spectators at Archie Browning Arena.
Laroslav Morozov and Luke Bennett were the other scorers for the Kraken (7-16-2-1), who had a 32 save, second star performance from Tanner Ferrill. Lake Cowichan led 2-1 and 3-1 by periods.
Victoria (9-11-5) received their goal from Anson Speirs, goalie Lane Maarhuis had 25 stops, and third star of the contest was Tyler Delli-Carri.
Westshore 5 Nanaimo 3
Second star Jackson Campbell fired three goals and first star Parker Atkinson had four assists to lead the visiting Westshore Wolves to a 5-3 win over the host Nanaimo Buccaneers, with 119 fans watching at Nanaimo Ice Centre.
Westshore (18-3-3-1) also had goals from Noah Gebicki and Brett Herle, as well as 18 stops from netminder Dryden Demelo as they led 2-1 and 3-2 by periods.
Nanaimo (11-11-1-1) had goals from third star Brody Lindal, Wade Enger and Kenneth Boychuk, and 29 saves from Darian Feser.
