Nanaimo 2 Port Alberni 5
First star Leim Smith and second star Nathan Hayes each had two goals and an assist to lead the hometown Port Alberni Bombers to a 5-2 victory over the Nanaimo Buccaneers in front of 242 fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex in Wednesday night VIJHL play.
The victory pushed Port Alberni into top spot in the North Division with 37 points (17-5-3), one point ahead of the Campbell River Storm. Zach Spafford also scored for the Bombers, who after a 1-1 first period tie, led 4-1 heading into the third. Evan Grant had 21 saves to earn the win in goal.
Third star Linden Hoskins and Wade Enger had single markers for Nanaimo (11-10-1), who received 38 saves from netminder Tristin Stephens.

Peninsula 4 Westshore 3 (OT)
Third star Jacob Caron scored at 6:59 of overtime to give the visiting Peninsula Panthers a 4-3 decision over the Westshore Wolves in front of 196 spectators at the Q Centre.
Zach Holeschek had two goals and Jacob Eddy one for Peninsula, who had 30 saves from goaltender Merik Grinaker while improving to a league best 40 points (19-1-2) and a three point lead over Westshore (17-3-2) in the South Division standings.
First star Jareden Kurvers and second star Jackson Campbell both had a goal and a helper for the Wolves, who also had a goal from Cade Dupont in a game they led 2-1 and 3-2 by periods. Netminder Dryden Demelo made 30 saves on the night.
