Nanaimo 1 Port Alberni 4
Second star Kash Nicklin scored twice to lead the Port Alberni Bombers to a 4-1 VIJHL victory Saturday night in front of 377 fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Port Alberni led 1-0 after the first period and 2-0 after the second, with Kenneth Boychuk cutting the lead in half for Nanaimo before Nicklin’s second goal of the night into an empty net with 30 seconds remaining, and Jack Barrett with 11 seconds remaining rounded out the scoring for the hosts. First star Sean Richards scored the other Bombers goal, and third star Luke Ridgway added two assists, with goalie Evan Grant blocking 27 shots for the victory, as Port Alberni moved to 22 points on a 10-5-2 record and are in second place in the North Division.
Darian Feser stopped 34 stops between the pipes for the Bucs, now 9-4 on the season.
Peninsula 10 Oceanside 1
First star Brendan Williams scored twice and added an assist and third star Lukas Prewea added two more goals to lead the visiting Peninsula Panthers to a 10-1 win over the host Oceanside Generals in front of 369 fans at Oceanside Place.
Peninsula moved to 13-1-2 and into first place in the South Division with the victory, leading 4-1 and 9-1 by periods. The other Panthers marksmen were Ethan Lingard, Lucas Ananias, Carson Harris, Ethan Hoffman, Malcolm Fletcher and Jacob Caron, with second star Alex Sajan adding three assists and goalie Jacob Walsh stopping 20 shots between the pipes.
Jasper Fellbaum scored the goals for the Generals, who had Hunter Farrer and Tyler Stefano combined for 46 saves in goal. Parksville is now 2-12-2 on the year.
Lake Cowichan 1 Kerry Park 5
Lake Cowichan scored first but the host Kerry Park Islanders scored all the rest of the goals in a 5-1 decision over the visiting Kraken at Kerry Park Arena.
Kerry Park led 2-1 and 5-1 by periods and had Jacob Morrison, Colby Robinson, Rylan Davis, second star Max Carlson and third star Carson BrownColby as their goal scorers. Ethan Barron earned the win with a 37 stop performance. Jobey Pearson had two assists to earn first star of the game honours. Kerry Park is third in the South Division on a 9-4-1 record.
Landon Carson had the Lake Cowichan goal and Josh Hope blocked 29 shots in the Kraken Cage. Lake Cowichan stands at 2-12-2.
Victoria 1 Comox Valley
Goaltender Brayden Pritoula stopped 37 shots and was named first star of the game as he led the Comox Valley Glacier Kings to a 3-1 decision over the Victoria Cougars at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Second star Isaac Dunsire, Jazen Davison and Henry Toomer scored the Yeti goals, as the teams were tied 0-0 after one frame and 1-1 following two periods. Comox Valley is fourth in the North at 6-8-2.
Kyler Smith scored the lone Cougars goal and was the game’s third star, as Victoria had 22 saves from goalie Lane Maarhuis. Victoria is fourth in the South at 7-6-2.
