Nanaimo 2 Saanich 1
Kyle Nickel’s goal at 18:24 of the third period gave the Nanaimo Buccaneers a 2-1 VIJHL victory over the host Saanich Predators before 106 fans at George Pearkes Arena Friday night.
It was the second straight one-goal win for the visiting Bucs, as third star Alfie DeBruyn tied the score at 1-1 in the second period, after Jake Westhaver opened the scoring for the Predators in the first frame.
Jaden Vanderlee made 32 saves in the Saanich net and was named the game’s first star, with Darian Feser blocking 31 pucks between the Bucs pipes to earn second star honours.

Comox Valley 2 Campbell River 7
Campbell River Storm rushed out to a 4-0 first period lead and coasted to a 7-2 victory over the visiting Comox Valley Glacier Kings before 802 spectators at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
Kai Williams and Henry Davis scored twice each to lead the Storm, with singles coming from first star Tristan Williams, second star Logan Wright – with adding assists, and Theo Landry. Third star Jacob Kulas added four assists for Campbell River, who received 19 saves from goalie Kaeden Serpa and led 4-1 and 6-1 by periods.
Jackson Bostock and Preston Muxlow were goal scorers for Comox Valley, with Luca Vanzo and Aaron Pichette combining for 38 stops in net.

Victoria 3 Lake Cowichan 1
Victoria Cougars led 2-0 and 3-0 by periods before downing the hometown Lake Cowichan Kraken 3-1 before 180 fans at the Lake Cowichan Sports Arena.
Kelton Shinde, Cole Patterson and Austin Garrett were the Cougars marksmen, with the game’s first star, Benjamin Bertrand, replying for the Kraken.
Lane Marhuis stopped 24 shots in the Cougars cage, with Meteo Medoro blocking 18 for the Kraken.
Aleksander Leonelli and Kananga Mangala of Lake Cowichan were named second and third stars respectively in the contest.

Port Alberni 2 Peninsula 5
Brendan Williams potted a pair of goals to lead the Peninsula Panthers to a 5-2 win over the visiting Port Alberni Bombers in front of 135 viewers at the Panorama Recreation Centre.
The first period ended in a 1-1 tie before the Panthers clawed out a 3-1 lead after two frames, with markers coming off the sticks of Zach Holeschek, Alex Sajan and second star Lukas Preweda. First star of the game was goalie Jacob Walsh, who stopped 29 of 31 Bombers blasts.
Elliot Kuprash and Sam Davidson dented the twine for Port Alberni, with Tom Forrest making 23 saves on the night. Bombers defenseman Solstice Tennant was the game’s third star.
