First star Jussi Saarni and second star Joseph Melichar each had three points to lead the Victoria Cougars to a 3-2 win over the visiting Oceanside Generals in Thursday night VIJHL action before 135 fans at Archie Browning Arena.
After a scoreless first period, a pair goals from Saarni, who also added an assist, put Victoria ahead 2-0 following the second frame, and Melichar, who had two assists, scored the eventual winner midway through the third. Cougars goalie Jesse Pye made 22 saves and was named third star of the game.
Jaxin Karst and Kane Law were the Oceanside marksmen, with Hunter Farrer playing a strong game in the Generals net by making 35 saves.

Peninsula 4 Nanaimo 5 (OT)
Brody Lindal scored his first goal with less than five minutes left in the third period and his second goal was the winner at 4:27 of overtime as the Nanaimo Buccaneers clawed back from a 4-1 deficit to defeat the visiting Peninsula Panthers 5-4 before 190 fans at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
Lindal also added two assists for a four-point game and was named first star, and second star Kenneth Boychuk also scored twice for Nanaimo, who had a single tally from Baden Pazdzierski. Darian Feser played an outstanding game, making 33 stops between the Bucs pipes for his third win of the season.
Peninsula scored first and skated to a 4-1 lead before the Buccaneers scored the last four goals of the game. Third star Jacob Caron, along with Brendan Williams, Alex Sajan and Zach Holeschek were the marksmen for the Panthers, who received 27 saves from Merik Grinaker.
