Comox Valley Glacier Kings goaltender Aaron Pichette stopped all 35 shots he faced and was named first star while posting the shutout and leading the visiting Glacier Kings to a 3-0 win over the Nanaimo Buccaneers in front of 294 fans at the Nanaimo Ice Centre in Sunday afternoon VIJHL action.
Third star Jake Gislason scored twice and Quintus Mah once against second star, Bucs goaltender Darian Feser, who finished with 23 saves. Comox Valley led 1-0 and 2-0 by periods.
With the win, the Glacier Kings (10-12-3) crept to within one point of the third place Bucs (11-9-1-1) in the North Division. Nanaimo has 24 points and has three games in hand, while Comox Valley has 23 in fourth spot.
