Campbell River scored goals in each period enroute to a 3-0 shutout of the Oceanside Generals in front of 427 fans at Oceanside Place in Saturday night VIJHL play.
Ethan Hill, third star Logan Wright and Dreyton Hayward put pucks past first star Hunter Farrer, who made 49 saves in the Generals net. Sheldon Alexander had two assists and was named the second star.
Miko Duplain had 13 saves in the Storm goal, as Campbell River held on to top spot in the North Division with 36 points on a 16-5-4 record. Oceanside is 3-18-2.
Lake Cowichan 2 Port Alberni 7
Sean Richard scored a natural hat trick in the second period and was named first star in the hometown Port Alberni Bombers’ 7-2 victory over the Lake Cowichan Kraken, watched by 378 spectators at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Second star Zach Spafford had two goals and singles came from Sam Davidson and Jaxon Hinchey, with Leim Smith chipping in two assists for third star honours. Tom Forrest blocked 23 pucks between the Bombers pipes. Port Alberni is a point behind Campbell River with 35 points and holds a game in hand, at 16-5-3.
Emerson de Giacomo and Bevin Williams gave the Kraken a 2-0 lead in the first period, and Lake Cowichan had a 37 save effort from netminder Josh Hope. They are now 6-16-2.
Victoria 9 Kerry Park 10 (OT)
First star Jobey Pearson scored at 59 seconds of overtime to give the host Kerry Park Islanders a 10-9 win over the Victoria Cougars at the Kerry Park Arena corral.
Second star Rylan Davis and Jacob Morrison each had three goals to lead Kerry Park, as Carson Brown, Finlay Klippenstein and Colby Robinson added singles in a game Kerry Park led 6-2 after the first and 8-7 after two periods, as they upped their record to 16-4-1-1 for 34 points, third in the South Division. Ethan Barron and Ethan Taylor combined for 30 saves in the Islanders net.
Third star Kelton Shinde had three goals to lead Victoria, with Carter Zeeben and Cole Patterson adding a pair each, with singles coming from Luke Reinhart and Brandon Smith. Victoria goalie Lane Maarhuis made 29 saves as the Cougars are now 9-10-5.
Saanich 3 Comox Valley 6
Comox Valley Glacier Kings scored the last three goals of the game to double the visiting Saanich Predators 6-3 at the Comox Valley Sports Center.
First star Rolan Amin, third star Landen May, Mathias Alhaj, Jaxen Davidson, Alexandre Alhaj and Ryan Harris were the marksmen for the Glacier Kings, who led 3-2 and 4-3 by periods and had 30 saves from Brayden Pritoula in the Yeti net. Comox Valley is fourth in the North with 19 points on an 8-12-3 record.
Second star Travis Swanson had two goals and Nick Scott the other for Saanich, which received 41 saves from netminder Ty Tanton. The Predators are now 7-15-2.
