Port Alberni 1 Westshore 2 (OT)
First star Adam Gillberg scored at 1:07 of overtime to give the hometown Westshore Wolves a 2-1 victory over the Port Alberni Bombers before 132 fans at the Q Center in Wednesday night VIJHL action.
With the win, Westshore jumped into a first place tie with the Peninsula Panthers at 24 points on an 11-2-1 record, with Port Alberni in second place in the North with a 9-5-2 record and 20 points.
After a scoreless first and second periods, Wyatt Taron gave Westshore a 1-0 lead, with Sean Richards replying for Port Alberni to knot the game at 1-1 in the third.
Clay Spencer had an assist for the Wolves and was named second star of the contest, with Tom Forrest earning third star honours with a 32 save performance in the Bombers net. Dryden Demelo picked up the win with 18 saves in the Wolves cage.
