Oceanside 0 Port Alberni 10
First star Kash Nicklin fired three goals and third star Jack Barrett added a pair to help the Port Alberni Bombers soar to a 10-0 blanking of the Oceanside Generals in front of 401 spectators at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Port Alberni (19-10-4) had four goals in the first period and three in each of the second and third, with Tom Forrest stopping all 17 shots he faced for the shutout. The other Bombers goals came off the sticks of Daniel Betcher, Jaxon Hinchey, Elliot Kuprash, Leim Smith and Sean Richards. Hunter Farrer and Tyler Stefano combined to make 57 saves for Oceanside (5-23-3).
Campbell River 2 Kerry Park 3
Outstanding goaltending from Ethan Barron enabled the Kerry Park Islanders to edge the visiting Campbell River Storm 3-2 at Kerry Park Arena.
Barron, the game’s third star, stopped 36 shots, many of the larcenous variety, as Kerry Park (21-6-2) moved into a second place tie in the South Division with Westshore and never trailed, leading 2-0 and 2-1 by periods.
Carson Brown wired a top shelf shot over Storm goalie Kaeden Serpa’s glove hand to open the scoring and Rylan Davis banked a shot in off Serpa for a 2-0 lead in the first, with Bode Pearson scoring the eventual game winner in the third. Colby Robinson was the game’s first star.
Second star Jacob Kulas and Ethan Hill were the marksmen for Campbell River (22-7-4), first place in the North Division, and Serpa made 29 saves in the contest.
Saanich 4 Peninsula 9
A three-star performance by Lukas Preweda (first), Malcolm Fletcher (second) and Ben Swan (third), who each had two goals, paced the Penticton Panthers to a 9-4 victory over the Saanich Predators at Panorama Recreation Centre.
South Division leading Peninsula (26-2-2) led 3-2 after the first, but Saanich roared back to take a 4-3 lead just past the midway mark of the sandwich frame before the Panthers added four more to lead 7-4 entering the third.
Jacob Eddy, Cole Sather and Paco Hodgson were the other goal scorers for the Panthers, who were backstopped by Jacob Walsh’s 19 saves.
Nick Scott with a pair and singles by Elijah Kim and Evan Kim scored for Saanich (9-20-2), who had Ty Tanton and Asher Uniat share the crease and combine for 34 saves.
Victoria 8 Westshore 1
Cole Patterson had a hat trick and named first star while pacing the Victoria Cougars to an 8-2 triumph over the Westshore Wolves at Juan de Fuca Arena.
Following a scoreless first period, Victoria (13-12-5) scored four times in each of the second and third periods, with tallies coming from Anthony Wilson, Joseph Melichar, Dylan Duquette, Jussi Saarni and Jacob Bernardo. Second star Tyler Delli-Carri and third star Aiden Beavan added two assists apiece and Jesse Pye picked up the win in goal with a 20 save effort.
Noah Gebicki scored Westshore’s only goal, in the second period, and netminder James Hall was busy with 43 saves in the Wolves cage. Westshore is now 20-6-4-1 for 45 points, tied with Kerry Park, which has a game in hand, in second place in the South.
