First star Tarik Borhot had a six point game on three goals nad three assists to lead the Victoria Cougars to an 8-2 clawing of the Oceanside Generals in Thursday night VIJHL play at Archie Browning Arena.
Victoria (25-16-6) had two goals and four points from third star Elijah Kim and one goal each from second star Jacob Bernardo, Mathieu Sauve and Austin Garrett as the Cougars led 4-2 heading into the final frame after the first period ended in a 1-1 tie. Jesse Pye had 21 stops in the Cougars cage.
Oceanside (10-33-3) had goals from Kane Law and Logan Lough and 44 saves from netminder Josh Nuttall.
Port Alberni 5 Nanaimo 0
Port Alberni had a 21 save shutout from second star goalie Damien Knackstedt in a 5-0 whitewashing of the Nanaimo Buccaneers in front of 238 fans at Nanaimo Ice Center, pushing the Bombers to the top of the North Division.
Port Alberni (30-13-4) holds a one point lead with one game remaining over second place Campbell River in the North Division, as the Storm have 63 points and two games remaining. If Campbell River wins their remaining two contests, they will win the North, even if the Bombers win their last outing.
Third star Sean Richards and Kash Nicklin each scored twice and McCall Nault once for the Bombers, which led 3-0 and 4-0 by periods.
First star of the contest was Buccaneers tender Darian Feser, who made 35 saves. Nanaimo is 16-25-4-2 on the year and will finish in fifth place in the North.
