Westshore 5 Oceanside 1
Westshore Wolves led all the way and marched to a 5-1 win over the Oceanside Generals in front of 324 spectators at Oceanside Place in Saturday night VIJLH action.
First star Clay Spencer and third star Kansys Seney, each with a goal and an assist, Noah Gebicki, Parker Atkinson and Jareden Kurvers tallied for Westshore which led 1-0 and 3-0 by periods and had goalie James Hall block 14 shots for the win. Westshore moved into a first place tie in the South Division with Peninsula Panthers on a 14-2-1 record for 30 points.
Josh Nuttall was busy with 45 saves in the net for Oceanside, whose goal came from Elliot Lee. Jordan Campbell was named the second star as the Generals are 2-14-2 on the year.
Campbell River 6 Victoria 4
Campbell River stormed ahead with three third period goals to overcome the hometown Victoria Cougars 6-4 before 135 fans at Archie Browning Arena.
The Storm, first in the North Division at 14-4-2 for 30 points, led 3-1 after the first, with the Cougars leading 4-3 heading into the third period. Sheldon Alexander, Holden Smith, Dreyton Hayward, Tristan Williams, Dylan Toth and Kai Williams into an empty net were the scorers for the Storm, with Jacob Kulas taking first star honours with a three assist night and netminder Kaeden Serpa blocked 22 shots and was named third star.
Kelton Shinde was outstanding while scoring twice and adding a helper to be named second star for Victoria, who also had goals from Ryan Donovan and Anthony Wilson. Jesse Pye had 32 stops in the Cougars cage as the hosts dropped to 7-9-3 on the season.
Saanich 3 Kerry Park 4
First star Nate Grinevitch fired a pair of goals as Kerry Park Islanders scored four straight and hung on to down the Saanich Predators 4-3 at George Pearkes Arena.
Second star Jacob Morrison and James Veitch were the other Islanders marksmen, with the teams tied 0-0 after one and 1-1 following two periods. Kerry Park, which had a 22 save effort from goalie Ethan Barron, is now 11-4-1, and in third spot in the South Division with 23 points.
Tarik Borhot had two goals and Luke Kim one for Saanich, now 4-13-2 on the year. Mathieu Ouellette was the game’s third star, and the Predators had 23 saves from Ty Tanton between the pipes.
Lake Cowichan 1 Comox Valley 0
First star Tanner Ferrill stopped all 29 shots he faced to lead the Lake Cowichan Kraken to a 1-0 shutout of the host Comox Valley Glacier Kings in a contest watched by 305 spectators at the Comox Valley Sports Centre.
Second star of the game was Brayden Pritoula who stopped 32 of 33 shots for the Glacier Kings, with the only Kraken to beat him being third star Cooper Barclay at 15:23 of the third period. Lake Cowichan moved to 5-12-2, with Comox Valley now at 7-9-2 in fourth spot in the North Division.
