First star Sean Richards had two goals and an assist, including the eventual winner as Port Alberni Bombers stayed alive with a 5-3 victory over the Campbell River Storm in the fifth game of their VIJHL North Division final playoff series in front of a packed house of 1,020 at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
Game six goes Thursday night in Port Alberni, with Campbell River holding a 3-2 edge in the series.
The teams were tied 1-1 and 2-2 by periods, but Port Alberni scored three times in the third frame to pull out the win. Jack Barrett, McCall Nault and Grayson Salmon into an empty net were the Bombers scorers, backed by 21 saves from goalie Evan Grant.
Second star Marshall Curri, Ethan Hill and Dreyton Hayward had the Storm goals, with Wyatt Dumont earning third star honours. Kaeden Serpa was solid in the Campbell River net, making 42 stops.
