Nanaimo 3 Saanich 2 (OT)
Brody Lindal scored at 3:57 of overtime to give the Nanaimo Buccaneers a 3-2 victory over the hometown Saanich Predators before 99 fans at George Pearkes Arena.
Lindal was named third star of the contest and first star Tristin Stephens kicked out 41 drives in the net for the Bucs, who also had goals from Zackael Monegon and Bowman Klippenstein as Saanich led 1-0 after the first period, with the second frame ending in a 2-2 tie.
Luke Kim and Jake Westhaver had the goals for the Predators, who received a 34 save performance from the game’s second star, goalie Jaden Vanderlee.
Comox Valley 2 Lake Cowichan Kraken 4
Lake Cowichan Kraken scored the first three goals of the game and hung on to freeze out the visiting Comox Valley Glacier Kings 4-2 in front of 158 spectators at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.
First star Luke Bennett, Emerson de Giacomo, Ryken Lay and Cooper Barclay were the goal scorers for the Kraken, who led 1-0 and 4-1 by periods and received 28 saves from second star, netminder Tanner Ferrill. Kananga Mangala chipped in two assists and was named the game’s third star.
Jake Gislason and Jaxen Davison dented the twine for Comox Valley, who had netminder Aaron Pichette block 32 shots on the night.
Oceanside 1 at Peninsula 4
Lukas Preweda fired three goals and was named the game’s first star, helping the host Peninsula Panthers claw the Oceanside Generals 4-1 as 199 fans watched at Panorama Recreation Centre in Sidney.
Jacob Caron added a goal and an assist and was named second star for the Panthers, as goalie Jacob Walsh stopped 20 pucks for the victory in net. Peninsula led 1-0 and 2-1 by periods.
Hunter Farrer sparkled with 38 saves in a third star performance in the Generals goal, with Grayson Erickson scoring the lone Parksville tally.
Kerry Park 5 Westshore 8
Westshore Wolves came out howling, scoring the first three goals of the contest and adding another three in the second frame to bite the Kerry Park Islanders 8-5 before 116 spectators at Juan de Fuca Arena.
Jackson Campbell with two goals and singles from first star Kansys Seney, second star Zion Lavoie, Clay Spencer, Jackson Campbell, Wyatt Taron, Alejandro Snead, Kansys Seney and Noah Gebicki accounted for the Wolves goals. Parker Atkinson earned third star honours with three assists, and Drydon Demelo stopped 25 shots for the victory between the Westshore pins.
Islanders goal scorers were Benjamin Stocks and Colby Robinson with two each and Carson Brown with one in the contest they trailed 3-1 and 6-2 by periods. Ethan Barron and Ethan Taylor combined for 19 saves between the Kerry Park pipes.
