First star Dryden Demelo stopped all 21 shots he faced in the Westshore net to lead the Wolves to a 5-0 shutout of the Kerry Park Islanders in Sunday night VIJHL action before 139 fans at the Juan de Fuca Arena, and first place in the South Division with seven points in four games.
Kaden Ryan had two goals and was named second star for Westshore, with single tallies coming from Zion Lavoie, Alejandro Snead and Kansys Seney. Third star Sam Spring added three assists as the Wolves led 2-0 and 4-0 by periods.
Carter Puska was busy in the Kerry Park net and finished with 43 saves.
Campbell River 4 Saanich 3
Holden Smith’s goal at 5:27 of the third period enabled the Campbell River Storm to defeat the host Saanich Predators 4-3 before 67 fans at George Pearkes Arena.
Levente Birta of Campbell River scored the lone goal of the first period, with Kai Williams and Beckett Trado adding markers in the second period. Jake Westhaver, the game’s second star, Von Parsons and Isaiah Idisi scored for Saanich in the second frame, as the teams headed into the third period in a 3-3 tie.
First star of the game was Campbell River’s Tristan Williams, with goalie Luc Gravel, who blocked 34 shots in the Storm net, was named third star in the contest.
Jaden Vanderlee made 34 stops in the cage for the defending champion Predators, who remain winless on the season after five games.
