Kaden Ryan had the long shootout goal, giving the visiting Westshore Wolves a 3-2 shootout overtime victory over the Nanaimo Buccaneers in Thursday night VIJHL play in front of 221 fans at the Nanaimo Ice Center.
First star Zackael Mongeon and Kenneth Boychuk scored the Nanaimo goals, with Darian Feser blocking 25 shots in the Buc’s net. Second star Cowyn Loney had an assist for Nanaimo, which led 1-0 after the first period and the clubs were knotted at 2-2 following two frames. Nanaimo moved to 10-6-1-1 on the season for 22 points, third in the North Division.
Alejandro Snead and Brett Herle were the Westshore snipers, with third star Dryden Demelo finishing the night with 31 saves in the Wolves cage. Westshore is now 15-2-2-1 in second place in the South Division at 33 points.
