Jacob Eddy scored at 4:23 of overtime to give the Peninsula Panthers a 4-3 victory over the host Kerry Park Islanders in a battle between the two top teams in the VIJHL South Division Tuesday night at Kerry Park Arena.
Following a 1-1 first period draw, Peninsula opened up a 3-1 lead after two frames, with Kerry Park storming back to tie the contest with a pair of third period tallies. Peninsula (28-5-2-1) is on top at 59 points, with Kerry Park (25-6-3-1) four points back with a game in hand.
First star Lukas Preweda, Kenyan Price and Joe Marranzino were the other marksmen for the Panthers, with second star Bode Pearson, Bryce Burnett and Cashe Kaban tallying for the Islanders. Jobey Pearson was named the third star of the contest.
Peninsula backstop Merik Grinaker and Kerry Park goalie Noah Stenvig each made 33 saves on the night.
