Third star Jan-Felix Faupel had a goal and an assist on the eventual game winning goal from Marshall Curri to lead the Campbell River Storm to a 3-1 victory over the host Port Alberni Bombers in front of 385 fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex in Thursday night VIJHL playoff play.
Kai Adano into an empty net, assisted by Curri, rounded out the scoring for the Storm, which after a scoreless first period led 1-0 heading into the third.
Grayson Salmon was the lone Bomber to beat Storm netminder Kaeden Serpa, the game’s first star, who stopped 33 shots. Second star Evan Grant blocked 36 in the Port Alberni net in the goaltender’s duel.
The win gave the Storm a 2-0 lead in their best-of-seven North Division final playoff series, with game 3 Friday night in Campbell River.
