First star Hayden Lovell stopped all 25 shots he faced to lead the visiting Lake Cowichan Kraken to a 3-0 shutout over the Saanich Predators in Friday night VIJHL action at George Pearkes Arena.
Third star Hayden Bilajbegovic, Luke Bennett and Laroslav Morozov were the Kraken scorers against the game’s second star, Jaden Vanderlee, who made 30 saves for Saanich (8-19-2) as Lake Cowichan (10-18-2-1) led 1-0 after the first and second frames.
Comox Valley 3 Port Alberni 2 (OT)
Sheldon Alexander scored at 4:58 of overtime to lead the Comox Valley Glacier Kings to a 3-2 victory over the Port Alberni Bombers at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
First star Rolan Amin was in on every goal for Comox Valley (12-15-3) with a snipe and two helpers, with Jaxen Davison adding the other. Yetis netminder Luca Vanzo stopped 29 shots and was named third star as the visitors led 1-0 after the first period and the contest went into the final frame tied 1-1.
Port Alberni (18-8-4) had tallies from Kash Nicklin and Leim Smith, and 39 saves from second star Evan Grant.
Oceanside 1 Campbell River 10
First star Kai Williams and second star Jacob Kulas each scored twice to lead the Campbell River Storm to a 10-1 blowout of the visiting Oceanside Generals at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
Campbell River, first place in the North Division at 21-5-4, led 2-0 and 4-1 by periods, and had their other goals from Ethan Hill with two, and third star Logan Vigneault, Holden Smith, Logan Wright and Draeden Bear with singles. Luc Gravel made 28 saves in the Storm net for the win.
Oceanside (3-21-3) had their marker from Kane Law, with goalies Hunter Farrer and Josh Nuttall combining for 42 stops.
Westshore 1 Peninsula 5
Peninsula Panthers extended their lead atop the South Division with a 5-1 decision over the visiting second place Westhore Wolves at Panorama Recreation Centre, led by a 34 save effort from goaltender Merik Grinaker, who was named the first star of the contest.
Third star Jacob Caron, Brendan Williams, Malcolm Fletcher, Lukas Preweda and Zach Holeschek scored for Peninsula now 24-2-2 for 50 points, which led 1-0 and 3-0 by periods and had three assists from second star Carson Harris.
Westshore, 20-5-4-1 for 345 points, had their goal from Kansys Seney and 28 saves from goalie Dryden Demelo.
