Westshore 5 Saanich 3
Westshore Wolves overcame a 2-0 deficit with four straight goals to take a 5-3 win over the host Saanich Predators before 185 fans at George Pearkes Arena in Friday night VIJHL action.
Clay Spencer with two goals including an empty netter with five seconds and Zion Lavoie, Jareden Kurvers and second star Kaden Ryan had singles for the Wolves, who trailed 1-0 after the first period but led 3-2 after two frames.
Third star Tarik Borhot with two markers and the game’s first star Jacob Bernardo with one tallied for the Predators.
Both goalies, Dryden Demelo of Westshore and Jaden Vanderlee of Saanich made 28 saves.

Comox Valley 2 Lake Cowichan 1
Luca Vanzo stopped 34 of 35 shots to backstop the visiting Comox Valley Glacier Kings to a 2-1 victory over the hometown Lake Cowichan Kraken Friday night.
Preston Muxlow and Brayden Candy scored the goals for Comox Valley, who never trailed in the game, leading 1-0 after two periods following a scoreless first frame.
Owen Rattray had the lone goal for the Kraken, who had goalie Meteo Medoro make 22 saves in net.

Victoria 3 Peninsula 2 (OT)
First star Austin Garrett scored 23 seconds into overtime to give the visiting Victoria Cougars a 3-2 overtime victory over the Peninsula Panthers before 186 fans at Panorama Recreation Centre in Sidney.
Peninsula led 2-1 after one period on goals by Malcolm Fletcher and Alex Sajan, with Victoria’s other goals came from Luca Porter and Mathieu Sauve. The score was tied 2-2 after the second and third periods.
Second star Merik Grinaker in the Peninsula net and third star Jesse Pye in Victoria cage both made 25 stops on the night.

Port Alberni 6 Campbell River 3
Port Alberni Bombers won their third straight game to open the VIJHL season, using four consecutive goals to double their hosts, previously undefeated Campbell River Storm, 6-3 before 505 fans at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
Leim Smith with two goals and singles from first star Jack Barrett, Zach Spafford, Kash Nicklin and Sean Richards accounted for the goals for the Bombers, who after a scoreless first period led 3-2 after two frames.
Second star Marshall Curri, third star Levente Birta and Theo Landry were the marksmen for the Storm.
Tom Forrest stopped 35 shots in the Port Alberni net, with Kaeden Serpa blocking 23 for Campbell River.
