VIJHL Game Summary 12.09.24

Saanich 3 Nanaimo 4
Nanaimo Buccaneers scored twice in the game’s first minute and hung on for a 4-3 win over the visiting Saanich Predators in Thursday night VIJHL action before 183 fans at Nanaimo Ice Centre.
Kenneth Boychuk, the game’s first star, assisted on first period tallies by third star Brody Lindal and Baden Pazdzierski and scored the eventual game winner in the third for the Bucs, who led 3-1 after the first and second frames. Zack Mongeon had the other Nanaimo goal.
Jake Westhaver, the game’s second star, scored twice for Saanich, with Cole Friesen adding the other goal.
Darian Feser made 26 saves in the Nanaimo net while Asher Uniat turned away 21 in the Saanich cage.

Campbell River 4 Victoria 3 (OT)
Kai Williams scored an unassisted goal 50 seconds into overtime to give the Campbell River Storm a 4-3 victory over the host Victoria Cougars Thursday night.
Williams also added an assist and was named the first star of the game, with other Storm goals coming from Logan Vigneault, Tristan Williams and Jacob Kulas, the game’s third star.
Joseph Melichar, Kelton Shinde and second star Cole Patterson, who also added an assist, were the Victoria marksmen in the contest, which Campbell River led 2-1 and 3-2 by periods.
Kaeden Serpa made 34 saves in the Storm net for the victory, with Jesse Pye kicking out 31 shots in the Cougars net.
