Port Alberni 1 Campbell River 5
Four third period goals powered the Campbell River Storm to a 5-4 win over the Port Alberni Bombers and a 1-0 lead in their best-of-seven VIJHL North Division playoff final series in front of 657 fans at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.
First star Jacob Kulas, Ethan Hill, Marshall Curri, Dominic Grieco and Kai Williams were the goal scorers for the Storm, who received a 29 save performance from netminder Kaeden Serpa, who was named the second star, and an assist from third star Jan-Felix Faupel.
The first period ended scoreless and Campbell River led 1-0 after the second.
Jack Barrett had the Port Alberni goal, with Evan Grant stopping 31 pucks in the Bombers goal.
Game two of the series is Thursday night in Port Alberni.

Peninsula 5 Kerry Park 4
Jacob Eddy’s unassisted goal at 10:13 of the third period enabled the Peninsula Panthers to edge the Kerry Park Islanders 5-4 in the opener of the South Division final as 191 spectators watched at Kerry Park Arena.
Peninsula led 2-1 after the first period with the second frame ending in a 4-4 tie. First star Brendan Williams scored twice for the Panthers, with single tallies coming from Clayton Collier and Oskar Aitken Salmons. Hunter Farrer finished with 23 saves in the Panthers cage.
Third star Brody Lindal, who added two assists, Jobey Pearson, Raydon Parkes and Matson Waring had the Kerry Park markers, and second star Bryce Burnett added two helpers. Noah Stenvig had 24 stops between the Islanders pipes.
The second game of the series is Friday night at Peninsula.
