August 18, 2026 – The VIJHL All Star event will be held on Vancouver Island this year on January 22-23, 2027 at The Q Centre in Langford.
An announcement about the Event was made by the BCHL Thursday in Langford. The VIJHL has participated in the event with the BCHL the past two seasons, in Salmon Arm in 2025 and in Spruce Grove, Alberta in 2026.
“We are excited and grateful that the All-Star Weekend will be held on Vancouver Island this year,” says Chair Shawn Vincent. “This is another example of our partnership with the BCHL and how they’re committed to growing the independent brand of hockey.”
The 2027 event is significantly sponsored by the City of Langford, one of the municipalities within Greater Victoria. The VIJHL’s Westshore Wolves play some of their home games at The Q Centre.
For the second straight year, the event will feature a Canada vs. World All-Star Game on the Saturday night. The weekend will also include an Alumni and Friends Game and Skills Competition, as well as participation from BCHL alliance leagues the Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League (VIJHL) and the Western International Junior Hockey League (WIJHL).
“The BCHL is thrilled to be heading to the West Shore for this year’s All-Star Weekend,” says BCHL Commissioner Steven Cocker. “The addition of the Canada vs. World format last season really brought out the passion from our players and fans, which made for an elevated experience for everyone involved.
“We would also like to thank the City of Langford for their incredible support of this event, as well as the Victoria Grizzlies organization for stepping up to host. The BCHL could not be more excited to be heading to the provincial capital in January.”
VIJHL President Mark MacDonald attended the combined All Star events the past two seasons.
“These events are excellent opportunities for our players and fans, and we are very pleased to see it being held in our back yard this season,” he notes. “These are first-class events that offer tremendous exposure for some our best players, as well as those from the other independent leagues we are associated with – the BCHL and the new WIJHL.”
