Kerry Park 0 Victoria 5
A pair of goals by Avery Lowe – his fourth and fifth of the young VIJHL season, enabled Victoria to blank the Kerry Park Islanders 5-0 in the Cougars home opener Sunday at Naden Arena in Esquimalt.
Following a scoreless first period, Victoria led 1-0 heading into a four-goal final frame to pull away. The Cougars other goals came from Tyler Delli-Carri, Dalton Toma and Quintin Bortolotto and goalie Noah Barnes stopped all 20 shots he faced for the shutout.
Alex Doyer and Jarrek Hluschyk combined to finish with 46 saves in the Islanders net.
The game was played at Naden in CFB Esquimalt as the Cougars’ regular home Archie Browning Arena undergoes renovations.
