Sept. 25: Panthers Win Battle Of Undefeated Teams

Peninsula 2 Nanaimo 0

A first period goal by second star Luke Christensen stood up as the winner as the Peninsula Panthers blanked the hometown Nanaimo Buccaneers 2-0 in a fast-paced goaltending duel featuring the VIJHL’s two undefeated, division leading teams in front of 265 fans at the Nanaimo Ice Centre Thursday night.

Caden Lentz stopped all 27 shots he faced in the Panthers pen to earn the shutout and third star honours. Kalen Dickie scored into an empty net with 30 seconds left in the final frame to ice the game.

First star of the contest was Nanaimo netminder Aaron Pichette, who stopped 40 pucks on the night.
