A pair goals from first star Malik Oliva and 38 saves from netminder Ryan Burroughs enabled the Port Alberni Bombers to soar over the Campbell River Storm in Wednesday night VIJHL play before 411 fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.
Kash Nicklin was money in the bank with two goals and second star Kaydin Halladay had a goal and two helpers to round out the scoring for the hosts, who led 1-0 and 4-0 by periods.
Theo Munroe and Elliott Turgeon scored for the Storm, with Luc Gravel and Matteo Scotto Di Pompeo combining for 26 saves in the Campbell River net.
Victoria 4 Westshore 6
Westshore Wolves scored the final four goals of the game to come back and defeat the Victoria Cougars 6-4 as 143 watched at The Q Centre in Colwood.
First star Noah Gebicki had two goals and an assist, with the Wolves other markers coming off the sticks of Aiden Wilson, Ashton Vine-Sullivan, Owen Hentschel and Alejandro Snead. Parker Atkinson chipped in two assists and was named third star, with James Hall stopping 31 shots for the win in goal.
Victoria led 1-0 after the first and 4-3 after the second, with Tyler Delli-Carri, Grady Slugget, Haydyn Brooks and Simon Semancik denting the twine. Joseph Melichar added two assists and was the game’s third star, with Cougars goalie Jesse Pye finishing with 21 saves.
