Sept. 18: Bucs Edge Cougars, Move to 4-0

Three straight goals in the second and third periods helped the Nanaimo Buccaneers edge the Victoria Cougars 4-3 in VIJHL action Thursday night in front of 210 spectators at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.

First star Casey Rutland, second star Jaxin Karst, Gavin Munro and Madden Cruickshank were the Nanaimo goal scorers, as Victoria led 2-1 after the first period but the hosts were ahead 3-2 at the end of two. Goaltender Adam Ranger stopped 27 shots as the Bucs moved to 4-0 on the season atop the North Division.

Third star Simon Semancik figured in all the Cougars tallies with a goal and two assists, as Jacob Bernardo and Joseph Melichar had singles. Jessie Pye blocked 38 shots between the Victoria pipes.
