Sept. 14: Panthers Pounce Again, Top South Division

Peninsula 9 Saanich 3

First star Brendan Williams, third star Luke Christensen and Oskar Aitken-Salmons each scored twice to pace the Peninsula Panthers to a 9-3 win over the host Saanich Predators in Sunday VIJHL play before 113 fans at George Pearkes Arena.

Defending champion Peninsula moved their season record to 4-0 to lead the South Division.

Second star Ethan Lingard, Paco Hodgson and Carson Harris had the other goals for the Panthers, who led 4-1 and 6-2 by periods. Caden Lentz stopped 9 shots in the Peninsula net.

Elijah Kim, Declan McNaul and Matthew Anderson scored for Saanich, who had George Lantz and Jacob Walsh combine for 29 saves in the Predators net.

Oceanside 3 Victoria 6

A goal and three assists from first star Joseph Melichar led the Victoria Cougars to a 6-3 doubling of the Oceanside Generals at Archie Browning Arena.

Second star Carter Zeeben, Grady Slugget, Brandon Smith, Simon Semancik and Jacob Bernardo also had goals for Victoria, which led 3-2 and 5-3 by periods and were backstopped by a 28 save performance from netminder Alexei Booth.

Third star Jacob Bate, Braeyen Newans and Grady Dragani were the Generals marksmen, with goalie Andreas Bylerius finishing with 25 saves between the Oceanside pipes.
