Nanaimo 3 Westshore 2 (OT)
Koen Gauthier scored on a power play at 6:16 of overtime to give the Nanaimo Buccaneers a 3-2 victory over the Westshore Wolves in Wednesday night VIJHL action in front of 75 fans at Juan de Fuca Recreation Centre.
Gauthier was named first star for Nanaimo, which is now 2-0 on the season. Jaxin Karst and Bostyn MacDonald had the other goals for the Buccaneers, who received a 30 save effort from third star Adam Ranger between the pipes. Nanaimo led 2-1 heading into the third period, as the first frame ended in a 1-1 tie.
Second star Linkin Niedoba and Sam Spring had the Wolves markers and Ander Reyes stopped 31 shots in the Westshore net.
