Oct. 31: Cougars, Glacier Kings & Panthers Post Victories

Victoria 5 Campbell River 3

A pair of third period goals broke a 3-3 tie and lifted the Victoria Cougars to a 5-3 VIJHL victory over the host Campbell River Storm in front of 317 fans at Rod Brind’Amour Arena.

First star Ben Wetterberg had two goals and two assists to lead Victoria, which led 2-0 after the first period. Brandon Smith also had a pair and Grady Slugget added a single marker and Jesse Pye was outstanding while stopping 41 shots to earn the win in goal.

Second star Hudson Davidson, third star Jack Smith and Dylan Toth scored for the Storm, which received 27 saves from netminder Luc Gravel.

Comox Valley 6 Lake Cowichan 2

First star Landon Morris had a pair of goals to help the Comox Valley Glacier Kings

triple the hometown Lake Cowichan Kraken at the Cowichan Lake Sports Arena.

Comox Valley held 3-1 and 5-2 period leads and their other tallies came from Leon Mikhalchuk, Zaya Morro, Ethan Gobel and Cohen Kallin. Anthony Ganoung and Silas Dromarsky shared 33 saves in the game.

Iaroslav Morosov and Kieran Prichett had the Kraken goals and Evgeni Tkachenko and Alfie Blakeley combined to stop 27 shots in the Lake Cowichan net.

Oceanside 0 Peninsula 12

A five-point night from first star Oskar Aitken-Salmons, including three goals, led the Peninsula Panthers to a 12-0 shutout of the Oceanside Generals at Panorama Recreation Centre.

The Panthers led 5-0 and 10-0 by periods, with two goals each coming from Carson Harris and Logan Barnes, while their other markers came from Alex Sajan, Ben Rowan, Ryan Christenson, Kalan Dickie and Luke Christenson. Caden Lentz had a 24 save shutout.

Andreas Bylerius and Levi Hollatz made 33 stops in the Generals goal.
