First star Aaron Pichette stopped 37 of 38 shots and second star Madden Cruickshank scored twice to lead the Nanaimo Buccaneers to a 4-1 victory over the Campbell River StormThursday night VIJHL action in front of 245 spectators at the Nanaimo Ice Centre.
With the win, Nanaimo (8-5) jumped up into top spot in the North Division, tied with Campbell River (8-6) at 16 points, although the Bucs have a game in hand.
Nanaimo led 2-0 and 3-1 by periods and also had goals from Lukas Needham and Rhys Wilcoxat the Buccaneers improved 7-5 on the season.
Third star Jack Smith had the lone Storm goal, and Matteo Scotto Di Pompeo finished with 20 saves in the Campbell River net.
