Oct. 18: Bombers Kash In As Hat Trick Leads To Win Over Bucs

Nanaimo 5 Port Alberni 6

Port Alberni Bombers “cashed in” thanks to three goals from first star Kash Nicklin in a 6-5 win over the visiting Nanaimo Buccaneers in front of 430 fans at the Alberni Valley Multiplex.

Joseph Naccarato backstopped the win with 46 saves and earned second star honours, with third star Troy Zajac adding two assists as Port Alberni led 3-1 and 5-3 by periods. Their other goals came from Jaxon Hinchey, Makhi Wandler and Malik Oliva.

Scoring for Nanaimo were Jack Barrett, Rhys Wilcox, Lucas Needham, Koen Gauthier and Zach Spafford, and goalie Adam Ranger stopped 24 shots in the Bucs net.

Comox Valley 2 Oceanside 0

Silas Dromarsky stopped all 34 shots he faced and earned second star honours to help the Comox Valley Glacier Kings freeze the Oceanside Generals 2-0 as 427 watched at Oceanside Place.

Thomas Scobie-Gyug in the first period and Leon Mikhalchuk on a third period power play were the Glacier Kings to beat Generals goalie Andreas Bylerius, who was named second star in the game.

The win put Comox Valley into third place in the North Division with 13 points, one ahead of Oceanside, who has a game in hand, and Nanaimo, which has played three less games.

Peninsula 5 Victoria 3

Peninsula Panthers came from behind with three straight goals, including two in the third period, to beat the Victoria Cougars 5-3 with 185 in attendance at Archie Browning Arena.

First star Carson Harris, third star Lucas Ananias, Oskar Aitken-Salmons, Alex Sajan and Liam Byrne were the Panthers marksmen, and goalie Caden Lentz blocked 16 shots for the win. Peninsula has 23 points after 13 games, including just one regulation loss, and they trail South Division leading Westshore, which has 25 points in 15 games.

Second star Aden Glenn, Zach Ellis Winters and Jason Ramsay had the goals for the Cougars, with netminder Jesse Pye finishing with 19 saves.

Westshore 7 Kerry Park 4

Westshore Wolves fired four third period goals to sink the Kerry Park Islanders 7-4 at Kerry Park Arena.

Alejandro Snead scored twice, with first star Kansys Seney, Parker Atkinson, Noah Gebicki, Trace Anderson and Xavier Barthe once each for the Wolves, which led 3-2 heading into the final frame as the first period ended in a 1-1 tie. James Hall took the win between the pipes by stopping 21 pucks.

Second star Hudson Closson, Nate Grinevitch, Parker Lawrence and Nick Scott had single markers for Kerry Park, as Tate Wilkenson was named third star and Joshua Dubreuil blocked 40 shots in the Islanders goal.
