Oct. 15: Wolves Nip Panthers In Overtime

First star Trace Anderson scored twice, including the tying goal late in the third period and an unassisted goal at 5:37 of overtime to help the Westshore Wolves nip the Peninsula Panthers in a battle of the South Division’s two top teams in Wednesday night VIJHL play in front of 253 fans at The Q Centre.

Third star Shane Fillinger and Sam Spring had the other goals for the Wolves, who had a fine 42 save effort from goalie Ander Reyes, and was named second star.

Brendan Williams had two goals and Ethan Lingard one for the Panthers, with Caden Lentz making 27 stops in the Peninsula net.

The teams were tied 1-1 after the first period and 2-2 after 2 in the tightly contested game, and Westshore (11-2-1) now leads the South with 23 points, although second place Peninsula (9-1-1) has three games in hand and 19 points.
