A six point night from Simon Semancik who had a hat trick and three assists propelled the Victoria Cougars to a 7-2 victory over the Kerry Park Islanders in Tuesday VIJHL action at Kerry Park Arena.
Victoria led 1-0 and 4-1 by periods and had two goals and two assists from league leading scorer Joseph Melichar, and singles from Omar El Harati and Pierson Main. Goaltender Jesse Pye stopped 40 shots for the win.
Melichar has 33 points, including 15 goals, and leads the points brigade by four point. The Cougars moved to 17 points and sit one back of the Peninsula Panthers, who have two games in hand.
Parker Lawrence and Benjamin Stocks had the goals for Kerry Park as Joshua Dubreuil made 23 saves in the Islanders net.
