The Vancouver Island Junior Hockey League is proud to support the continued education, training and development of VIJHL players through the VIJHL Academic & Leadership Scholarship Program.
Each season, the VIJHL will award two $1,000 scholarships — one to an eligible player from the North Division and one to an eligible player from the South Division.
The program recognizes the whole player, considering not only academic achievement, but also leadership, sportsmanship, character, community involvement and commitment to future goals.
Education Comes in Many Forms
The VIJHL recognizes that every player’s path after junior hockey is different. Scholarship opportunities are open to eligible players pursuing a wide range of recognized education and training pathways, including:
- University
- College
- Skilled trades and trade school
- Apprenticeship programs
- Technical institutes
- Vocational and career training
- Other recognized post-secondary educational programs
Players are not required to continue playing hockey after the VIJHL to be eligible.

Applicants must be a current VIJHL player during the applicable season, have completed at least one full season in the League, and be in good standing with their Member Team and the VIJHL.
Applicants must also demonstrate satisfactory academic standing and be pursuing, or intending to pursue, an eligible post-secondary education, apprenticeship or training program.
